Waterton Lakes – Crandell Lake Trail
Located in surreal Waterton Lakes national park, this mountain bike or hiking tour will lead you along the Crandell Lake Trail around Mount Crandell.
Description
The first 4.8 kilometers will be on Highway 5. The next 8 kilometers are on Red Rock Parkway. Since the road is closed for cars, there is not a lot of traffic to be expected. The trail starts at kilometer 13. Some parts are rocky and steep but in total it is well manageable for medium experienced mountain bikers.
In September 2017 a wildfire burned 19.000 hectares in Waterton Lakes National Park. On the mountain bike tour you can still see the remnants of the fire. You will also see how fast nature and wildlife recovers. This is certainly a highlight of this tour.
You will also pass several lakes, including Lake Crandell which is a beautiful spot for a break.
